My COMDDAP Expo Davao 2009

I attended the COMDDAP Exposition at July 2 which was Thursday and my intention for the event was to have a seminar and watch exhibit booths that display at the ballroom. But seriously I was up to the seminar that was at the Vanda function room at the Apo View Hotel. The seminar comprises of different topic representativity by different manufacturer and dealer which highlight the event though there are also other seminar that have a premium class that would cost in every event. The only thing that I attended was the free seminar in P.M session. The seminar was presented by The Nexus Group(TNG) and every presentation title has its different speaker. I like how the flow of seminar was work and every speaker was prepared in discussing they’re product.
The first presentation on that afternoon was from the Jupiter Systems Inc. they prensented us their system the ERIC(Empowerment Resource Information and Control) Dealer Management System or the ERICDMS which is an end-to-end software solution for automotive dealer operation. The system comprises of different range of solution the Customer Relationship Management(CRM), Vehicle Sales and Administrator(VSA), and the Service Management(SVM) which I think a one package of solution for your business speicifically on the automotive dealer operation, i heard also that it showcase a POS(Point of Sales). He discussed us about the flow of the operation of the system from the start to an end, he also show us some snap picture from the system which show some of the operation from the ERICDMS, which was a good example to catch our attention as a audience on that seminar because as for myself it so hard to relate on how operation of the automative dealer work, though I had some knowledge on his explanation about the databases and the system but I cannot fully relate my on the operation. It was a good experience for me I can say to sit and listen to that seminar because I had a experience on working like that system before on my previous project working on queries and transact, I can say it was a large system and yet as my eye saw those snap picture from the system I can say it was a complex system as a audience because of those forms, I believe also it was a perfect system if you are a automotive dealer and needing a fully working system that will help you transact and track the record of your operation, surely ERICDMS will satisfy and will have solution to your problem.
The next presentation is from the Nexus Technologies Inc. the HP Thin Client it is a computing device that function as a device on a network without a hardrive that packaged a solution on a business facing problem like network security, replacement cost, data access and other problems, which cater a great advantage for the company. As I had listen the HP Thin Client offers many great feature that will surely answer those basic problem facing by the company though if you are a Consultant or a MIS person in your company you would surely think it as a solution for the long-run of the company. Basically hearing all explanation from the presentor of the seminar of the HP Thin Client mesmerize me as a audience no doubt on the desktop innovation and its access which reliability of the product would surely satisfy you as a user, but my only comment is that I think that these Thin Client would work best if you are in a company with many work station. As far as I had remember from the presentation(Comment me if im wrong) that it also work a stand alone desktop and i dont think that it would be a advantage for me to use these desktop because as I had remember that you cannot install easily a program software because the interface you are using is only virtual from the server which is the main. All access in your computer is just a virtual from the server and you are only using it as a interface, and I as a student couldn’t not afford such like these server maybe someday if I would be a president of a big company would be surely recommendable. But to sum it all the Advantage Dominates the HP Thin Client and I think it is the best solution and I really appreciate that these technology are getting smaller and powerful inside.
I Really Enjoyed the COMDDAP EXPO DavaO! Hope that there would lots of exposition and free seminars to come because I believe Davao produce competitve IT to compete to the world.
In-House Issue of the Enrollment System
June 25, 2009What do you think is/are the reasons why the university decided to tapped in-house resources, was it a good decision
Its not unusual that the University should decide to use its in-house resource at this time because as the global crisis also alarm every humanity to spend wisely even though only big companies are getting pressure on this issue, we on the lower and middle rank must also be conscious before its too late. There are many reasons to formulate if you would analyze the situation of the university that decided them to use the in-house resource and behind this all critic that I formulated I stated that as a student we should also be aware of what the reason behind all these issue and there are no other intention to point any thing wrong of this paper just to help and clarify all the rubbles of issue. To start with these discussion we had already our sharing about these issue on the enrollment system of the university as a part also of our subject SAD1(System Analysis and Design) its part of our learning to analyze the system and its design that cover the enrollment system. The issue had been freely debate by student under the subject of SAD1, the in-house resource versus the outsourcing many complements and answer formulated. Outsourcing means getting outside the university on the other hand In-House from the word itself IN means inside the university making the available source to be resource, and now to continue the issue in our SAD2 we must define and concentrate more on the root of all this issue.
To begin my hypothesis the first thing that came to my mind that the university decided to change from outsourcing to in-house was that the Budget, I think it is the primary reason why the university decide to shift its source because instead of spending its money to maintain the system why wouldn’t try to make use the available resources inside the university apparently there are great teacher and software engineers in the campus one of those is our professor. Allocating the fund in maintaining the system cost lot of bucks and also my follow up question also follow that, does the university satisfy the late system?, do student appreciate its process?, this question also follow to the current system. These are only simple question that are formulated if you would analyze the whole enrollment system, is it worthy to change the outsourcing to in-house? Maybe because the company offer to the university enrollment system has so many errors, the performance doesn’t satisfy to the user of the system also chain to the student and the staff of university. It involves under the sun issue if would talk about the late enrollment system. Its so questionable that the university so hasty decided to change the system last year, basically our instructor decided us to leave with other instructor so that he would be able to focus on their project namely the enrollment system. Time, is a great factor to be consider also when making decision, did the university ever think of it?, there are lot of risk considering the time involvement if ever it would change to in-house. Upon the days had been passed and the in-house project system are already implemented in the university there are many cases of issue about the newly system because there are so many errors reported by many student and I’ve witnessed of the weak side of the system, like in adding subject instead of paying the tuition fee of the subject the only assessment that the student pay is the adding fee. These only explain that the system are not fully fixed and errors are clearly testified by its end-user, maybe the only reason is that the time alloted to the developer of the project are not sufficient because if you would account to the developer of the system it takes time and process to make a Fully Functional System, and as far I am concern the project was started only just last year by two great instructor from Institute of Computing (IC).
If I would able to outline primary reason why did the university so hasty decided to tapped in-house resources is that the Budget. It is the primary reason why I think the university change so swiftly to in-house because there are lot of project that the university is aiming in this school year and allocating its fund to enrollment system would not be able to success their waiting project. As you can see also there are output of the allocated budget there are repairs of the newly building and also the school railings l are change, hope they would also be able to see the IC which there are lot of new fresh student would apply in the college.
To sum it all I think the university do great decision in changing from outsourcing to in-house because it is also good to recognize the faculties of the university because I think there are great instructor inside the campus which only need a recognition from the head. They didn’t only save money but would able to allocate the funds to the right resources hope that they would decide proper because time also involve to it like what happened to the current system though several errors occur its not bad that the developer of the program finish the project even only on time allocated to them.
Evaluation on Enrollment System

Assuming you were tapped by the university president to evaluate the new enrollement system implemented this semester, enumerate your observations/comments and suggest possible areas and ways where improvements can be made. Your observations/suggestions should be properly validated with facts and literatures…
This Past days I’ve been working busy on my enrollment for the first semester subjects that I will account on for this 3rd quarter and 4th quarter of the year. This is my 5th year in my course as a BSIT student in USeP I can say it sucks to be in the school but its my fault that made my fortune to stay long in USeP(I Was Planning To Fail…). And talking about USeP and its enrollment system, recently I was shock how enrollment system was changed and I can say it was a mayhem though it was neutralized by the help of some of the security guard who are posting to deal with the crowd. Its very advantage to me that I’m already a senior to know the every step and procedure on enrollment system; thinking that it would be easy to me to get finish on my enrollment. Despite does advantage I was delayed by the long chain of student who are falling in line to the registrar and bookkeeper(For Scholar). Its unusual to us as a IC to student to get stuck on th e registrar, because the population of our college is minimal compare to the other colleges because on the last semester it was a piece of cake doing assessing my enrollment because we just fall in line to our respective registrar; unlike, these current system that there are no respective registrar that we are heading but all registrar output entertain all student who are in the enrollment procedure.
Part of my subject that I had enrolled these semester was System Analysis and Design 2(SAD) talking about SAD, enrollment system was one of the issued topic that had risen in our case study during our assignment in SAD1, our mentor assigned us to make a Data Flow Diagram , Use Case Diagram, and a Activity Diagram for the late enrollment system, I analyzed the process for enrollment system and made my own idea on how it worked by simply showing it on a diagram form. The process of the enrollment system was simply easy if you could just understand. But looking back on the current system that are currently implemented, if you could just analyze the situation of the flow of the new system you can actually say that it was synchronized unlike before. To account also on the work of the developer of the current system we should also look to the time alloted to them, the resource and information that they gather, and the budget on implementing these system and the other factor example like the person who are in charge for the use of the newly system, these factor should also be consider. Also, these current system wouldn’t be able to innovate without the permission of the University, it’s the major cause that made way to the implementation of the newly enrollment system. Lets dissect more to the story on how these issue of current enrollment system came to life. Lets begin to the question why did the University change its enrollment system and what was the reason to it. In my own opinion on the previous years the University use the outsourcing method to arrange the enrollment system, In behalf today the University use its in house source method to resolve the problem, I believe that the University had choose the right decision in dealing with the problem of enrollment because instead of spending a month to the outsiders why would not try to make squeeze the resources inside the campus, these would surely save lots of bucks for more other projects of the school.
If I would be tapped by the university president to evaluate the new enrollment system as what I explained earlier, I believe that the developer of the new system is closely near to the end of line in finishing the touch of the system and I can say that these system is a pre-birth that I am sure that there would be a lot of maintenance and update of the system because as I had witnessed there are some technical error occur during the enrollment period, though the error is tolerable with regard also to the awareness of the staff who is using the newly system that they might had oriented already, unlike before previous system that when error occur, they had to call the technician or the maintenance assigned on the university as what I testified a year ago, good thing right now that are able to fix the bug and now to act when it occur. You can say that it must be a advantage on the part of using In-house source because instead of calling a maintenance person assigned when minimal error occur it is appropriate to teach the user on how to act and fix with these bugs of error. I can say also that since it uses In-house resource why would not try to help each other inside company rather than involving other outside. There are a lot of improvements I can say in these current system though I’m not speaking it bias because as what I had observe also, I myself as a student of the University of Southeastern Philippines is the primary validation of these enrollment system because I myself undergo on this process which involve these newly system though they say its quite awkward that these current system implemented because of the hustle it cater, but on the part of the new gate project are open on the school why would not try to look on the other side of it that it benefit a lot major projects for the school to satisfy the needs of the student. There would be a lot of hook ups if I would be able to suggest but I guess my suggestion would be futile because I believe that the developer had much more plan than I could be possibly think though only my small suggestion is that since they already started these whole enrollment system why would not also include the Grading System of the adviser since they are using the Microsoft Excel in tracking the grade of the student since it is a part of the step also of the enrollment system the College which list also the advisory of the student which is the second part of process after you would pay all the miscellaneous in the campus. Because every time I ask for a PRF(pre-registration form) on my adviser, before they would signed the PRF they would make check up first if my grades if they are complete and to validate also requirement of the preceding subject these process waste time and effort of the adviser though these part is also important because it is the consultation time of the student to their adviser what would be the best way to enroll they’re subject specially if you are a irregular student. I believe these connect also to the whole enrollment system because providing security that the student are required to proceed to enroll with the particular subject must be have a database also that are connected to adviser, to the college secretary which responsible for the pre-COR(Certification of Registration), and the Registrar. I believe that these system would make things convenient not only to the adviser but to the student also not to ask again to have a print for the transcript of record, because I think that it would delay the whole process of enrollment system if these thing would be innovate for a new system linking the grades of every student to adviser, secretary of the college, and registrar would surely make cause for upgrading the enrollment system.
I enrolled my subject last June 02, 2009 for my first semester, and as I had observed on those enrollment time I encountered a tremendous line which started from the bookkeeper up to the second floor of the CAS building also the line of the registrar there are a lot of student falling in line to be officially enrolled, to cater the rush of the student security guards are assigned to help neutralized the area of the cashier which is located at the ground floor of the CAS building. And if I would be able to evaluate the crowd of the student it was a mayhem without the help of the guards but as the consistent of neutralizing the enrollee it was perfectly managed. I can say it was perfect task also to do to use the resource of the security instead of doing they’re usual task patrolling the school they were assigned in maintaining the floor. I believe in using all the resources inside the university would make things easier than before because its not only lessen the budget but it also helps to spark out the potential of every person in charge in the university other than student. Somehow it was well organized all the staff was at their best as expected on their job and guards was on their post, I believe that the crowd of the student was able to lessen if the student were enroll during their year level because the mix match of the that year causes the snake line, though it was not fault of university, it would be better if the day of enrollment are followed. Nothing to comment at all I believe all the potential of worker of the university are being utilized well and did they their job well.

ately, I was thinking if these real worlds really exist or am I part of a one big cycle of process that has its predetermined goal. This question formulized me so many ideas to imagine, wondering if this imagination of mine right now is destiny. But how come, I can right this text right now if this is destined; is this text right now is predetermined to someone else reading this? You may wondering why right now; what on the earth am I saying in this page, but the point of my discussion is that you can relate it to yourself right now, imaging what on earth made you come up in this stage? Are you happy in your life? Did you fulfill your dreams? Are you happy with your situation? Do you have goal in your life? And do you want to end up like this? These are just some of my thought experiencing the late year in college. But I know it’s too late for me to reflect of what had the damage had been covered over my grades but I believe that there will be never too late in this world. I want to share to you my experience in my journey in my college life. I didn’t notice how quickly life has change over the years; yesterday I was once a High school student now I’m on the fifth year of my year in college hopefully this will be the last year. Actually, I must already a graduate student on our university but the gloomy part is that, this is the path I choose and thinking how dreadful my school year was happened, I’m so disappointed of who I really am.

’m going to share you a story how my life change after all that had happened to me and to answer those ambiguous question you had encountered on the first paragraph. It was Saturday morning when our beloved professor had surprisingly asked us a question; it was astonishing issue that triggers my body and soul. The subject was really difficult to comprehend and it needs a critical thinking over your wholly self, it topic quoted “I Think Therefore I Exist” or Cogito Ergo Sum by Rene Descartes one of the magnificent philosopher ever exist. I was struck and mentally black when I read the quote it made me realize how life must be treasured and planned for once it pass it will never come back. Now, relating back to the issue; I think therefore I exist because I live for a purpose and that is to go to school and finish my study so that I can be competitive when I am alone in this world. Some of us think the same way as I am before as well as I believes that in order for us to live or exist in this world is by what means of money. Without money equals no food, shelter, security, friend, and others this are the things that causes all roots of evil in this world and defining those by accepting the fact is so hard to admit by ourselves, because the truth is that we also have this own of vices of money means. But what is the relationship of my discussion of this money and “I Think Therefore I exist”? The answer is that the money and the latter quote word is parallel in finding ourselves from within knowing of what is our purposed in this world; are we up to something else like money or are we up to the very important fact in this world knowing who we are and our purpose. Like our professor had said “I don’t teach in order to live, but I live in order to teach” it was simple statement yet very magnificent to think how life is beautiful if you fulfill both your happiness.

was thinking if I’m really a thinking person, the fact that I may thinking right now to formulate this text but am I a thinking person to have a plan for myself? The question always repeating in my head, wondering if I am therefore I am. It was so ambiguous at first to repeat the word itself examining what mystery that wraps the phrase. The only key to the issue that I was distressing was that me myself who is I right now, it was me just realize later on that I was falling into pit of failure that my addiction had drown me to the abyss. It was too late for me to realize how much time I wasted just for the sake of my vices. The article was all about ANOVA(Analysis of Variance) use and misuse of mixed model, its intriguing the fact that I don’t have really an idea about this statistic method for in reality, that I had already encounter some math subjects and experimental computation on our laboratory but didn’t undergo on statistics. The article was focused about the difference between the three major effect namely the fixed, random and mixed effect, the comparison of both fixed and random effect, made myself to realization the important of difference of each party, this simply by giving its distinct comparison and explanation from the article information. This signifies that the article was consistent of its facts by filling it like a jigsaw puzzle to the reader by implying its facts at a time. To take up the overview of the whole page it consist of different reviewed article issues on Ecology and Evolution. The sum of all reviewed article was study and being dissected to find answer of the objectives of the article, this was simply by arranging and separating the reviewed article that was discuss in the Methods paragraph in the article by implying its question to find solution to the objectives that was stated. The categorical arrange of the topic was really helpful for the reader to follow the flow of the explanation of taught from the author, though at first ambiguity and familiarity of term should be considered first of what the topic is discussing because you might consider some factors of term that is used in the article like “dependent variable” though the key words are identified after the abstract was introduce, but it wouldn’t be useful if you don’t have any idea of those words so I suggest that before reading it I guess reader should have a take recap of its statistic subject, I would say a short review would be helpful to jive-in to the flow of information. The identification of the two major issue namely fixed and random effect contributed a lot to fix the mind of readers to what was the main issue is discussing all about, but to be more precise it was helpful in clarifying the rubles that was roaming around in my mind as a reader to what is the meaning and the difference of fixed and random before entering the cock pit of its primary topic. It was all well arrange from top to bottom of its discussion, the flow was merely a explanation like a tutorial in the web but not to extend that the detail was planned well for the explanation of its term and explanation specially when they are discussing its example. I know it would be so hard to find appropriate words to elaborate your idea of what you are discussing, but the author find the way to catch the reader attention by explaining those terms in a catchy way like in a very simple reasoning of idea so readers could easily understood of what the author is primarily thinking. This is one of the criteria I had been finding in the article knowing the main term of its topic by explaining its term and by introducing its background, because often article I’ve been reading was that they where presumably know that the reader had this all background of information about the article but I will rate a plus factor for the article in preserving the idea in to its simplest form of term and explanation.
